'Dhool' Sornakka passes away


Actress 'Telangana' Shakunathala who has acted as the menacing Sornakka in Vikram-Jyothika starrer 'Dhool' has passed.
The actress complained of chest pain in the early hours of June 14 and was taken to a private hospital. However she was declared brought dead in the hospital authorities who cited cardiac arrest as the reason for the
sudden demise.
Shakuntharal was 63 and survived by her husband, a daughter and a son. Shakunthala made her acting debut with the film 'Maa Bhoomi' that released in 1979. Since then she has acted in hundreds of Telugu films and her last film was 'Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummeda' that released in Januyary, this year. The actress was highly proficient in Telangana and Raylaseema accents of the Telugu language and hence she got the screen name 'Telangana' Shakunthala.
In Tamil,  Shakunthala has acted in Vijay's 'Sivakasi' and 'Machakkalai' after 'Dhool'. Her character in the Dharani directorial was so successful that she used to be referred as Sornakka in Tamil film industry and audience
