Debutante
director N.Raghavan's 'Manjapai' opened to mixed reviews last week. The
film produced by director N.Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers and
Sarkunam's A Sarkunam Cinemaz is doing brisk business in its second week
despite getting mixed reviews from critics.
'Manjapai' is retained in many screens across the
state despite this week the release
of two new Tamil films this week.
'Manjapai' had collected eight crores in the first four days of release
and the first day collection was 70% of what 'Kochadiiyaan' collected on
its first day in Tamilnadu.
Raghavan's relatable script with equal dosage of
humour and sentiment sans vulgarity , veteran actor Rajkiran's perfect
portrayal of an innocent and kind old man from a rural background and
the effective marketing of 'Thiruppathi Brothers have ensure the film's
box office success.
'Manjapai' starring Vemal, Lakshmi Menon and Rajkiran
in the lead roles has become yet another hit film for Thiruppathi
Brothers banner.
